I said it.  Getting what you want isn’t easy.  It takes hard work, commitment, and focus.  Duh.  Like you haven’t heard that a million times.  So why do we still have so many people who aren’t getting what they want?  Why do we have millions of people who are settling for less in their careers and relationships than what they are capable of?  Are that many people really that stupid and lazy?  While it might temporarily boost your ego to say yes, the reality is that they’re not.  Humans want something greater.  It is written into our DNA to strive for something more.  Some people just haven’t cracked the code. Well, that’s only true if you want to live a truly remarkable life.  All too often, we think and plan our way through projects, trying to predict every outcome in the mistaken belief that if we can avoid mistakes we can avoid failure, and more importantly, judgement.  After all, if we have a meticulously thought out strategy for everything, then we have someone or something to blame when things don’t go according to plan.  We say things like, “Well if this person would have done their job, I wouldn’t have been put in this situation.” Or more often, “We would have been able to succeed if management would get their heads out of their asses.” Read More
