Greg Hopps

MBA

Greg Hopps is a leadership consultant and executive coach who works with leaders and teams committed to doing the work required to grow, lead well, and make a meaningful impact. His approach is simple and practical: build capacity, take ownership, and follow through.

Greg brings over 25 years of leadership experience in complex, people-centered environments. He spent his career in the Surrey School District serving as a teacher, vice principal, principal, and district leader. In his most recent role as Principal of a large inner-city elementary school of 750 students and over 100 staff, where the work required clarity, consistency, and strong relationships to move things forward every day. He understands what it means to lead when expectations are high and the work is real.

Greg is known for helping leaders close the gap between what they know and how they show up. His coaching focuses on practical, day-to-day leadership; how decisions are made, how conversations are handled, and how standards are set and maintained over time. He works with people who are already capable, but want to be more intentional, more consistent, and more effective in how they lead.

Across his career, Greg has built and supported programs that develop confidence, resilience, and leadership in others. He is the founder of Sticks & Stars, a TELUS Award-winning initiative supporting at-risk youth, and has mentored leaders at all stages, from emerging professionals to experienced administrators.

Today, Greg partners with leaders and teams across sectors, including public service, education, and performance-based environments. His style is direct, supportive, and grounded in real experience. He brings structure when it’s needed, asks the right questions, and keeps the focus on what moves people and organizations forward.

In addition to his consulting work, Greg serves as an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Advisor at the University of British Columbia, where he supports the development of future educators. He also served as a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves as a Health Care Administrator and Platoon Commander.

Greg holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from McGill University, along with degrees in Education and Psychology from UBC.

At the core of his work is what drives him personally: building capacity in others, working hard to make the world a better place, and becoming the best version of ourselves.
